I would like to get some ideas from you guys on my maps. I want to get ideas of what I should do. The game is based on SWAT (special weapons and tactics) terrorists versus the counter-terrorists. There are different types of maps that can be created like: de: bomb map, cs: hostage map, fy: arean map, awp: sniper map, surf: surf maps (my fav), gg: gun game map, and custom maps: use any kind of names
I can do almost about anything: moving platforms, triggers, lighting effects, physics, you name it, I can do: gots any ideas, tell me please, cuz im running out!!!

the games that I can co-op with is hl2-dm, cs:s and dod:s, mostly source games for right now, but i am hoping to get into making custom maps for halo, but its taking a while

Hmm i think i may have an idea!
(this is for hl2dm)
make a large maze area with sliding walls. at a dead end somewhere make a hidden door that opens to a room with a panel where you have to enter a 4 number digit to open a door. make it so the only weapon u get in the map is a grav gun and little the place with sawblades. in the admin room make like controls/traps for the levels walls and passages. (im starting to wonder if this is even possible)

How about an asylum where some walls shift into new configurations, with lightning, moving cloud layer in the skybox, and some phantoms that randomly appear (not quite sure how that would work). Add in things like screams from the underground cells and random moving lights like apparitions in the cells. Ive been trying to make one myself but ive kind of run dry with the architecture as im trying to do this for a zombie map but im still a bit of a nubstar and havent quite got the edge on the gameplay. Ill get back to it when my skills have improved somewhat. but please, go crazy.

ah nice idea, well the phantom part, I don't know about and premade screams either, but you can always add custom sounds and textures to your map but that does sound cool and exciting if put well together.

LOL, ok i might have gone a bit OTT with the screams and all that but a map which switches configurations would be cool. is it possible to have two worldcubes joined by say, a passage and have separate skyboxes for each of them. i was thinking of Ct day and terrorist night. and you could try linking them with two surf courses there and back?.. T

That can be possible, because on garrys mod 10 the map gm_spacebuild used skies in the 3-D skybox and made the skys look different, thats a way how I see how to do that

What about a bank hesit game. I was working on one, but Ive got totally, completely, utterly, stuck on making a map for it. Im playing around with an idea but I cannnot for the life of me get a layout for a workable map for this sort of game. If anyone wants to collab with me then that would be cool.

Ok, this is what all the player equip gab was all about, but I submit Well, I actually had the idea while i was wathcing Heat, the bank raid part. What I had in mind was for everyone to have the choice ONLY of the first 3 assault rifles as a game limiter. This is the strategic/technical part: The T start inside the bankvault, and the CT start a little way back behind a police blockade, thus giving the T a little bit of a getaway start. The Ts have to run to an evac point which I had as a white van surrounded by the escape mod prefab, terrorist escape point. The T's win by either reaching the getaway point or killing all the CTs, and the Cts win by killing all the Ts before they reach the getaway van/car. I understand that there will have to be a few thoughts about where the CT start and also to steer teh game more in the direction that the Ts run for the van isntaed of just trying to kill of the Ct or itll be just a fight yard map. The idea is to rig up a break and chase scenario where the CT and T shoot it out through a downtown street, trying to make a getaway through the urban setting. I have plenty of ideas, but when it comes to gameplay I get real stuck. Ideally to have a small up street shoot out then a chase through parking lots and over and through buildings along 2 set routes to get to the getaway car. I was thinking of having the Ct spawn at maybe 2 strategic locations, mainly one back from the bank a little bit, and the others ahead at another roadblock along the way. Or have groups of spawn points along the way where the Ct can come into it, i.e. groups of 4 Ct spawn points, whereas the T will always be together on account of the scenario. One of the balance factors being to compensate for the distacne travelled by the T and that they start together, and, the CT as they start broken up but have more choke points. I wanted to have the first 3 rifles to add the limitations and to kind of sync in with the theme; i,e, T aks and galils and the CTs famas and m4a1s both for fun and aesthetics. Lemmie know what you think, because Id really like to try this one. I can understand that some things might need to be forced to balance the gameplay, for instance the Cts that spawn further ahead must not be given too much margin to set up an ambush to mow down the Ts or it will become a bit of a bias and ruin the gameplay. The idea is to keep up some sort of moving chase scene with 50% shooting and 50% chase. Somehow. According to your initail post that you can do anythin :PPP well i do believe you, serious, I was thinking of having a trigger say half way across the map that when a T passes it it lets the other CT out in some way, i.e. opens a door. Just another way of distributing the action and avoiding biased advantages, that way the Ct cant horde in on the Ts and dampen the gameplay. Laters
